ANDREY DEMIDOV (balalaika) Was born in Leningrad on January, 15th, 1975. He graduated with honors from the Musical college named after M. Musorgsky (class of N. A. Shubin), graduated and post-graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory (class of Professor M. I. Senchurov). Since 2001 he is a teacher of the St. Petersburg N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory. A. Demidov is a winner of international and All-Russia competitions, and a laureate of the “Muses of St. Petersburg” award. He is the author of numerous transpositions for a balalaika, as well as instrumentations for ensemble “Expromt-quintet”. The musician is constantly gives concerts in Russia and abroad, gives master-classes. He performed with leading Russian orchestras. His students are prize-winners of international and All-Russia competitions.
ILYA MATVEEV (domra) Was born in Leningrad. He graduated from the Musical College named after M. Mussorgsky (class of N. A. Shubin). In 2008 he graduated from the St. Petersburg N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory (class of associate N. N. Shkrebko). From 2001 to 2007, Ilya was a member of “Intrada” quartet of 4-strings domras, from 2005 to 2008 he was an artist of the V. Andreev Russian State Academic Orchestra. Member of “Expromt-quintet” from 2009. Collaborates with Dmitriy Babichenko, the Director of the firm “Mr. Musician” and music master Georgy Sidorsky in the development of strings and improving the design of domra.
KONSTANTIN ILGIN (guitar) One of the best classical guitarists of St. Petersburg. He has finished with a Silver Medal Average Special Musical School-Lyceum of the St.-Petersburg State Conservatory, where he was the first and till now the unique guitarist. He graduated with distinction from the St. Petersburg N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory and postgraduate study of arts of the Conservatory. He took master classes from R. Evers, E. Fernandez, O. Ghiglia, E. Papandreou. In the year of 2003 Konstantin defended his PhD thesis on a theme «The Guitar classical and Russian (seven-stringed). Existence and performance». He conducts active concert activity in Russia and abroad as solo, and as a part of various ensembles. The winner of the international competition. Konstantin teaches in the St. Petersburg N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, the St. Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts, the Russian State A. I. Herzen University, the St. Petersburg M. P. Mussorgsky Musical College, the St. Petersburg N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Musical College.
SERGEI POGURTSEV (button accordion) was born in the city of Chelyabinsk in 1977. In 1996 he graduated with honors from the Chelyabinsk P. I. Tchaikovsky Musical College, class of a button accordion of Professor Natalya Ischenko. In 2001 he graduated from the St. Petersburg N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory (class of Professor Oleg Sharov). In 2001-2003 he continued training attending postgraduate course in the Conservatory (class of Professor O. Sharov). During the years of study Sergey became the awardee of the All-Russian «New Names» program, the prize-holder of the «Muses of St. Petersburg» award, and the laureate of All-Russian and International competitions in Russia, Germany, Spain. Since 2003 S. Pogurtcev working as a specialist in the concert department of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. He began teaching at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in 2008 – at the Department of Ensemble, Instrumentation and Conducting the Faculty of Folk Instruments. Currently, he leads an ensemble and instrumentation class at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, and he is also a teacher of the bayan class at the St. Petersburg Music Lyceum.
GUY DAVTYAN (double-bass) Guy was born in Leningrad in 1977. In 1992 he graduated with honors from the St.Petersburg Music school № 2 (class of teacher G. I. Zilper). In 1996 he graduated from the Special music school-lyceum at the Conservatory, the class of the teacher G. S. Lukjanin. He was accepted without competition, as one of the best graduates of the school-lyceum, to the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov (class of Professor G. S. Lukianin), which he graduated in 2001.
Simultaneously with his studies, in January 1997, he was employed in the orchestra of the St. Petersburg State Academic Chapel named after M. I. Glinka, where he worked for 10 years, the last 5 years as a leader of the group of double-basses. In 2005 he was awarded the diploma “For faithful service to the ideals of Russian art and the preservation of the traditions of the oldest musical institution in Russia.”
Since May 2001, is a member of the “Expromt-quintet”, with whom he represented Russia in many countries around the world.
Since 2008, he has been the accompanist of the double-bass group of the Governor’s Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg. Since 2016 he has also been working as an inspector of the Governor’s Orchestra at the Tchaikovsky Center of Musical Culture in St. Petersburg. In 2018, for professionalism and conscientious work, he was awarded a diploma of the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg.
